In Beginning Classes the focus is on having fun with a new dance form. We let go of expectations and instead simply enjoy doing something different with a group of adventurous women of all ages and shapes. We begin by learning the building blocks of belly dance movements, improvisational dancing, basic choreography, dance styles, musical rhythms, finger cymbals and costuming. Of course, to keep our bodies protected and build them stronger and more limber, there is always a warm-up and cool down for each class. |
Intermediate
Classes find new ways to enjoy
dancing by focusing on advanced moves including floor work and prop balancing
(such
as swords and trays), isolation movements, music interpretation, elements
of choreographies
and varied improvisational dancing options. Strengthening exercises become more rigorous and include yoga inspired movement. |
Workshop offerings include topics such as: * Modernizing & Improvising Tunisian Dance * Crazy 8s: Beyond Taxeem * Basics of Soloing (Yes, even in Tribal) * Basics of Understanding Music & Choreography * Tribal Club Movements: How to Improvise the Crazy Stuff * Fire Basics: Dancing with Fire Fingers, Belt, Poi, Bowls and Candle Trays |
